Article review of J.D. Salinger

I can only make a few connections. One of which is very random. The random connection is to the hermit crab simile of Salinger. I just thought about how my step brother had hermit crabs. Random I know. I have also seen multiple accounts of people taking things the wrong way such as Chapman did with the Catcher in the Rye. Which was the ultimate account of taking things the wrong way. Murder is wrong!! I have felt sort of like Salinger when he wanted to just seclude himself from everyone. The interpretations of Holden are pretty much on the nose with my interpretations. All though I most likely would not call him a hero. This article has sort of pushed me in the direction of what Salinger was trying to be. As well as what he wanted to do. The last paragraph pretty much summed it up. As quoted, "Just because I'm so horribly conditioned to accept everybody Else's values, and just because I like applause and people to rave about me, doesn't make it right. I'm ashamed of it. I am sick of it." The quote carry on but it is very long.

Connecting to Holden

I feel that Holden is lost in his own personality. That he can't actually find out what kind of person he is. I can connect with this. Not on a personal level, but I have observed people around me. Such as some people in my family. I believe that Holden and my family member are very close to being the same in the way that they don't exactly know who they are. Being this way they would not be able to adapt easily to normal society. Provided that they can be able to adapt eventually they have a hard time getting along with people and continuously get kicked out of things or are shunned from the rest of their age group and others.

I believe that a new novel could have a very positive impact to a reader. The reader would love his multiple writing styles and his various characters with alot of developement in each. Writers on the other hand would probably not like a new novel because they don't want to be showed up so to speak. All in all a new novel from him would be very good.
